NYS 4-H Shooting Sports Receives
New York State Conservation Council Award

The New York State 4-H Shooting Sports Program was the recipient of the “2008 Outdoor Education Program of the Year” award from the New York State Conservation Council.  The award was presented to NYS Shooting Sports at the NYSCC’s Annual Awards Program, held on September 19, 2008 in New Hartford, NY. Russell Lehr, NYS 4-H Shooting Sports Eastern Volunteer Coordinator, received the award on behalf of NYS 4-H Shooting Sports.  The presentation highlighted more than 30 years of dedicated service and exceptional programming to our youth and volunteer instructors across the state who follow the motto:  “Maintaining the Tradition” of shooting and family values.

NYS 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinator, William Schwerd,
Named Conservation Educator of the Year

William M. Schwerd, Executive Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County and the NYS 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinator was presented with the 2008 Conservation Educator of the Year Award at the NYS Conservation Council’s Annual Awards program held September 19, 2008.  Schwerd was recognized for his outstanding leadership as the state coordinator of the largest multi-disciplined shooting program in New York, and for his dedicated efforts on Bluebird restoration, among many educational programs and leadership efforts, in Saratoga County, New York and beyond.
