2018 Artist of the Year - David T. Mayack

Artist of the Year 2018 - David T. Mayack

New York State 4-H Shooting Sports is proud to recognize David T. Mayack, Ph. D., as their 2018 Artist of the Year!  Dave began working in transparent watercolor upon retirement as a Research Ecologist with the Division of Fish, Wildlife and Marine Resources of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.  His interest in art started at an early age.  Dave’s father, an academically trained artist, served as a mentor in understanding the principles of design and composition.  Dave’s interests in game bird hunting, dog training and fly fishing, along with his extensive academic training, further influenced his work in presenting landscape from an ecological perspective.  Consequently, Dave’s landscapes often address unique ecosystems not found in the repertoire of other painters.

Three exceptional original watercolors by the Artist of the Year, David T. Mayack, including Setting up for Cans (shown above), will be featured at the 19th Annual New York State 4-H Shooting Sports Banquet & Auction Event at Towers Hall, Fort William Henry Hotel & Conference Center, in Lake George, NY on Saturday, April 21, 2018.

For more on David T. Mayack, please visit his Artist of the Year page.
