2008 New York State 4-H Shooting Sports
State Shoot
Date: May 31, 2008
Location: Chemung County Rod & Gun Club
Breesport Rd, Breesport, NY

Held Rain or Shine
Time: Registration 8:00-9:00 am - Shooting starts 9:00 am sharp
Awards Ceremony directly following event
ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL BE RECOGNIZED!!

Cost: $5.00 per event or $20.00 for all events
“Safety is our #1 priority and concern for the shoot.”

Events & Rules

* Kids may participate in as many events as they like, as long as they are of age for the event and
space
have an instructor’s signature on the individual’s registration form for each event
* Each shooter is responsible for his/her own ammunition, ear protection, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader,
spacespacespacebow, and arrows
* Food will be available to purchase from the Chemung County Sportsman’s Club throughout the day
* Camping is available at a near by campground
* Equipment must be checked by the range officer prior to shooting times

Air Rifle
Distance: 33ft
Target: Standard match target
Shooter will have 10 shots each in sitting, prone, and standing.
Bench position will replace standing for 8-10 year olds
Bring own rifle, pellets, CO2
Any type sights allowed

Archery
15 shots Vegas style (5 rounds of 3 arrows)
15 “3D” targets on a field course
Will be broken up by age for distances:
space10-12 yr old will shoot 10 yards Vegas Style and max of 15 yards “3D”
space13-15 yr old will shoot 20 yards Vegas Style and max of 25 yards “3D”
space16 and over will shoot 20 yards Vegas Style and max of 30 yards “3D”
All types (longbow, recurves, and compound) allowed and grouped together
Release, stabilizer, and peep sights allowed
Please bring at least 6 good arrows

Muzzleloader
Shoot a total of 15 shots
5 shots at 20-25 yards on a rest
5 shots at 50 yards kneeling
5 shots at 10-15 yards off hand-standing
Bring own Muzzleloader, powder, balls, patches, etc.
All sights allowed
No coaches allowed on firing line or at loading benches
One shooter per rifle per group
Targets will vary per age group
Max. 60gr powder and patched round balls only

.22 Cal. Rifles
Shoot a total of 30 shots.
10 shots standing at 25 yards at a woodchuck target
10 shots sitting at 50 yards at a rabbit target
10 shots prone at 75 yards at a squirrel target
Any action and sights are allowed (scopes included)
Bring own rifle and ammo (no magnum, .22 long only)

Shotgun
(NO TRAP this year due to the gas company going through the Chemung club’s property)
Shoot a total of 50 rounds
25 rounds of skeet
25 rounds of sporting clay
May be any gauge shotgun
Guns must be able to shoot 2 rounds in sequence for doubles
Must provide own shotgun and ammo
